PC vs console gaming

Hi all! I have owned once a powerfull Windows PC gaming computer (Windows XP and Windows 7 both 32 bit), but i have sell it to another person. Why? When i was gaming then it was making a lot of noise (air cooling PC). It has made twice more noise than my PS3. Second problem was allways with the drivers, you just cant click on the game and start playing, you have to first adjust drivers if theres any problems and offcourse allways have to set up game (graphically and so on). Sometimes i couldnt play game at all, couldnt fix the software and drivers problem. With PC you have to all the time defragment it, not to hold unnecessary programs what may slow down PC and so on. Games was much cheaper (in my country PS3 Dishonored cost 69 euros and PC version is 29 euros) than console. I like console gaming but it cost twice as much as PC. Why? Because of huge game prices on console. I like do put game to console and instantly start to play without any configuration. I have now played console games all day over 5 years (started with console gaming since 1993, tried PC gaming in 2007 and after that again on console long time), but it seems like console makers doesnt offer nothing new a quite long time, but i dont like to play with 6 years old system. Does PC gaming has these problems today what i mentioned? But i am waiting so much Steam Box Console, perhaps it brings PC gaming on Console with PC game prices.

I've done both since the late 80's. I definitely prefer PC gaming in the current industry climate. Publishers try to screw you at every turn. They get away with it less on PC.

I didn't even have these problems when I was gaming back in 2002. Just popped in a new graphics card into the computer and played games. No idea what you messed up Op.

If you're not technologically illiterate, any of the problems you mentioned shouldn't be difficult to solve. Installing a driver take like 3 minutes and a very minimal amount of user input. Configuring a game's settings typically happen once, and if you have a vague idea of how much performance each setting costs, it can be done in under a minute.

And, 'don't like to play with 6 years old system'? Eh, The Last of Us, coming 2nd quarter 2013 looks great, what does it matter the hardware it runs on is 6 years old again? Not sure what European country you live in, but I can buy Dishonered for PS3 overhere for 35 to 40 Euro at this moment. Especially if you don't buy the games day 1, a few months later you often can find them for around 30 Euro.

I spent like $800 on a pc in 2008, and the only part i've spent money is on Gpu. Even though I never really needed to, I like buying new cards. I haven't bought a new one in about 2 years, and it's been rock solid. I think people have a misconception of how much work it takes to play games on pc, it's like a ronco cooker. You set it, and then forget it.

How quick does SONY want to forget about the PS3?

Steam has turned me back into a PC gamer all the way. The only issue I have with PC games is a lot of older games tend to have a lot of bugs, if they even work at all. I'm hoping that the games coming out today will be able to function well into the future because I love playing retro games every now and then.

I played through duke nukem 3d, it great and it ran perfect.

False hope when the majority can't even function on release.

I played KOTOR on my computer without a problem, but the graphics are terrible, my character had an ass that made her look like she was wearing 3 layers of diapers.

Hi all! Thank you for your opinion! It seems like pc gaming has changed a lot since my last gaming pc. My friend has computer gaming machine and there was Dishonored at least twice as beautiful as the same game was in my PS3. He told me he has three years old graphic card. So PS3 is old gaming console for me.

Buying a console that launched in 2006, or putting together a high spec gaming PC in 2009 makes a difference with playing the same game on both systems? Wow dude, wow. I'm flabbergasted. I will never play a game on my PS3 again knowing that a PC that has constant updates in hardware will beat it... Just for your knowledge: consoles always has been fixed hardware for its lifecycle, so it won't update to todays PC hardware until next gen releases. Has never been different. And this gen the consoles were more powerful than ever/closest to PC for at least the first couple of years of their lifecycle than any gen before. Not sure, but are you 15 years of age max maybe? Then I can understand where it is coming from. Now show me a game on PC like The Last of Us. Oh and Puppeteer too, or God of War A. Because the generic pile of FPS on a PC are boring, MMO is for those that like wandering around for countless hours without a purpose, the World of Warcraft addicts just lol and for the rest its basically just good for RTS....
