Has 2012 been the year of the PC?

So, arguably 2012 has been the year of the pc.  The platform is growing, there's less talk about piracy, and steam is a run away success and it's service is getting better every year.  What do you guys think, has it been the year of the PC, and what made it so.

For me, Dota 2 made 2012 fly by.

I'd say so, other than Twisted Metal I haven't touched my consoles all year.

Yeah you could tell there was a resurgence in the PC market once more affordable GPUs came out a few years ago and video games didn't take such huge leaps in graphics like before. Since the graphical jumps are now becoming smaller and reasonably priced gpus can hold out for around 5 years the PC market will thrive since more people can get into it.

I won't argue that it hasn't been a good year for pc gaming but the reasons you give seem silly to me.


 For example next year the PS3 has GOW, TLOU, Beyond, Sly Cooper and some other games I can't remember. Those games shouldn't count cause I can't upgrade the video card? 

There was not 1 PC exclusive that interested me this year, so no...

The problem here is that you're thinking of this as a competition. You're thinking of this as Year of Nintendo, Year of Sony, Year of Microsoft. It's not like that for the PC platform. Again, it has no year as it's had nothing but quality content for a long time now. Ranging from RTSs to FPSs to MMOs to much else. 


And really people need to stop naming off those games, it's like everyone's a broken record. "OH B-BUT WE'VE GOT THESE 4 GAMES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AMAZING, WELL AT LEAST THEY HAVE HUGE BUDGETS"

I don't think any platform had a good year in particular.

Some good games but nothing extraordinary.

I only picked those games because they were the only ones I remembered and I'm too lazy to look up more. You say it's because of the magical hardware I say its the games that matter.

These are just some of the ones I've actually played, they're all fantastic.

Torchlight 2 and Hotel Miami are sooo good that they just made this year better.  I still need to play FTL, hopefully it goes on sale.

And then I proceeded to mention the games and content on it that has been quality since the years. Stop trying to pick apart my sentences while you disregard the rest that I Post.

What are you talking about, you asked me to show you here you mentioned hardware, I did now you're talking about something else.

Through most of the year I thought Starhawk had the best mp in 2012. Then Planetside 2 came along and stole the title.
