@ TheRot

I will pay up to a grand on a console depending on the tech in it. I know my perception of money vs. tech may be different from others so don't hate me for saying that. We are all different.

Now games should not go up in price. Think of it this way, the number one gripe from all developers this gen was not enough ram. If Ms or Sony come with anything less than 4gigs of ram I'll be disappointed. Coding should become easier with more ram which means spending less resources in that area. I'm drunk and lost my thought $60 should be max for games. I don't pirate and only buy used when no new copies are around I  would feel insulted by developers at 70 or 80

I remember when 49.99 was the norm, now it's 59.99 and they've been sneaking in a few 60-70 dollar titles this gen. Not to mention the additional DLC they expect you to buy. I can only expect there'll be a baseline 70 dollar price tag on next gen games right out of the gate. I only buy games on release that I'm super hyped for, everything else I get second hand on amazon for $20 max. after they've been released for a while.

400 dollars for console at max. I look back and regret paying 600 dollars for the ps3. But I'm probably not getting anything next gen. Gaming looks to be going down a **** path.

@mandf

Saying "we are all different" doesn't protect you from criticism or anyone saying that's idiotic.

Between 400 and 600...

a lot is reading on what the controllers will be like for Sony and if MS is going to be pushing connect...

I did not like motion controls at all... they all seems to have some sort of delay in response time or lame play too them a lot of rinse and repeat play....

$70 is nothing, games were regularly €65-€75 here for around 2 years and were around that price for even longer in mainland Europe. If that's all you have to pay you should count yourselves lucky.

yeah that sucks man... It has to be because trying to regionalize the games for europe  , also shipping would cost more because of gas prices and well profit jabbing...

Still it sucks...

I think Australia has bad prices as well...

True, but even for games developed in places like the UK (like most Grand Theft Auto games and Red Dead Redemption) we still end up paying plenty (and getting them later). Mind you as you say even we don't have it as bad as Australia have had it, prices are beyond ridiculous there.

Don't forget... when they make the games for NA it is the 2nd easiest place to distribute games and a huge market.. on only 2 maybe three languages...

compared to Europe's releases have to have around 13 languages and insane gaming laws that have to be worked around or changed around in games...

Germany has some of the worst gaming laws... on what can and can not be in a game...

so of course that is going to take time..

Japan has some of the most relaxed gaming laws around... so that is why they also get a lot of games before you guys...

that said... Japan also has a higher ratio of gamers in their country than most places...

But I do think it is shat that there is such a huge difference in price...

I have started writing down what is going into games and that as far as money being spent from my end... and I have started to list the games I want and what price I am willing to pay to play them...

was shocked to see it on paper...  a lot of games are well worth waiting till they are 30 or 40 bucks that little difference  can help your budget big time..

I find it helps looking at it on paper... puts things in perspective...

I wont pay for next gen consoles, its not worth it anymore, especially when you can build a decent pc for less than a console is worth.

You can build a four hundred dollar pc that plays games like Uncharted, Gears, TLOU, Halo and others? I want to shop where you do.

Agreed, buying a game for 60$ on a binge doesn't seem like much.
But writing out the costs for all games and gaming accessories. It adds up, a lil' too much and too quickly.

I've been doing the same, I tell myself no more 60$ purchases. So far I've kept true to it, last game I bought for 60$ was WKC2 actually in 2011.

Insert various PC exclusives that consoles cannot play here. Really, this argument is one of the worst I've ever seen. Also we've figured out a build for a 100 dollar pc that plays games. We call it: The Hobobuild.

This thread is not about pc gaming, it's about the next round of consoles. I'm sure there's another thread were you can talk specs till the cows come home.
