Games That Last Too Long?

Some people complain about some single player games being too short but there are some games that are too long for no reason and they start getting boring, imo GTA 4 really drags and gets repetitive as ****. Also every japanese rpg ever made.

There isn't a threshold that I would say going past makes your game 'too long', it simply depends on whether the game is of quality. For example, I find many RPGs to be 'too long' because they are artificially lengthened by required, tedious grinding. And I felt Modern Warfare 2 was too long, it should have been 0 minutes in length because again, I feel the quality of the singeplayer should determine its length appropriately. GTA4 was definitely pushing it but I had a good time with the SP. The bigger problem there was that I felt it had 0 replay value as some of the side missions I had remaining were boring and trivial

Not really, but I did have a similar problem with Dark Souls. To clarify, I embrace the difficulty of the game. My issue was that whenever I died I had to replay sections of the game I felt I shouldn't have had to. I actually got bored re-defeating enemies to get back to the enemy giving me trouble.

Toward the end of God of War 3 I just wanted the game to be over. The combat became very boring after a while.
My soul is still dancing.

PeeWizzle Toward the end of God of War 3 I just wanted the game to be over. The combat became very boring after a while. On the topic of action games, I don't like how Ninja Gaiden Black forced me to play through every difficulty to get to Master Ninja, which basically means you have to beat the game 4 times to beat MNM. Now it is slightly forgivable because 1) NGB is the best 3D action game ever made and 2) every difficulty notably modified the enemies you actually saw and fought throughout the game, but having beaten Ninja Gaiden 2004 on every difficulty already, it was certainly a bit annoying. I did it anyway because the quality of that title is unequalled.

I think all games should have all difficulty levels unlocked from the get go. I think it's a petty way to give replay value.

A lot of those 40+ hour JRPGs could do well with shaving 10 hours of fluff off.

Agreed on GTA4, too many missions were the same and the reward just wasn't there. As much as I love Zelda, several of the games feature tedious fetch quest segments that should either be removed or replaced with more engaging gameplay. For good JRPGs, being 'too long' has never been an issue. If done well it just adds to the epicness.

Far Cry 2. I got to the half way point (which I thought was going to be the end), and then it seemed like you'd be doing the same thing all over again just in a different part of the map. I never finished it.

Yeah alot of Jrpgs have a few 'dip' points. Where you get bored for a number of hours. Apparently Ni no Kuni lacks this.

This is the closest I have came to breaking a controller this entire gen NG2 is not anywhere near as good as NG1, the quality of the series declines with each release. Though unlike NG3, NG2 is still true to the Itagaki formula If you want to experience a bad camera play Ninja Gaiden vanilla (2004 Xbox release). Coming from hours and hours of that game, Black's camera was a revolution for me

Uncharted 2. That game dragged on and on, I felt it was never going to end.

Rage_S90 Skyrim/Oblivion Sh*t gets so boring. I hear that. I sold Oblivion 24 hours into my save. I haven't started Skyrim yet but I severely doubt I'll be able to cross the 30 hours mark.

Rage_S90 Skyrim/Oblivion Sh*t gets so boring. To each their own I guess. I played the hell out of those and Fallout 3/NV. Managed to 1000/1000 all four of them. Another game that lasted too long was Lost Odyssey. I made it to disc 3 and never finished it.

Sly 2, the first one was the right length at around 14 hours, Sly 2 though felt like it should of ended at 14, but it decided to go on for 6 more, which was really frustrating.
