Need some critiques on a new track I have been working on.

So I have been trying to get better at producing electronic music and really wanted some honest feedback on my new track. If you like it that is cool too, but what I really need is some advice on stuff you do like and stuff you don't and what I can do better next time. I know this isn't exactly your cup of tea for some of you, but I knew you guys would at least be honest. Thank you in advance for your opinions. https://soundcloud.com/ma...aster-towards-eternity

Not my cup of tea but really liked the beginning. Was that you on the piano or keyboard or whatever it was? Once it gets to 1:21 it gets to the part I don't really like with techno: the repetitive beat and high pitch. Then at 2:16 or so it gets good. It isn't like the 1:20-2:20 is bad, but it is just a bit too long for my tastes... again this is personal bias and I certainly am not into techno to know enough... is this a staple in the genre? Anyway, the outro (I think) would benefit from more of the beginning to give it a feeling of coming full circle. It is the best techno I have heard, if that means anything considering it isn't my thing. Cheers!

Overly repetitive and playing it a bit safe. But, I'm not a big fan of this sort of techno. It's more what I used to hear in dance clubs, which I hated. So, if that's what you were going for, then don't listen to me. It may be that it's just not my cup o'tea.

Considering that you were aiming for retro, back to its roots, techno it was definitely fitting. Although the opening buildup is more commonly associated with drops in newer dance music which I was totally expecting at any point early on passed the intro. Older techno seems mellower than modern music, but not this mellow at least from my point of view...not sure where you want to start as far as sub-generas. Otherwise, well done.

Alright guys. Some really great opinions. Thanks. I think I might make it a little bit longer and bring the piano back in like Thorstein said. I might also make the second "drop" a little more banging by bringing in some more instruments. Thanks again guys.
