Remember when Killzone 2 was torn apart for the large amount of cursing? Gotta love the double standards.

ZombieNinjaPanda Remember when Killzone 2 was torn apart for the large amount of cursing? Gotta love the double standards. That's because this one is _ART_, ZNP. /s The sad thing here is that this is much more out of place and juvenile than what you actually hear from military personnel. This is just some punk kid and his brother who talk about who's got the bigger one and overuse the middle finger when they already carry a sword that pretty much does all the talking they'll ever need. I just don't get how anyone can praise this game on the level of Enslaved or Heavenly Sword (let alone praising Enslaved for its storytellilng/writing either). Edit: That's only the cursing in cut scenes/lead ins to areas. There's more outside of that.

Game looks good, i want to buy it. But i also want to get Rising and GOW: A. 3 hack and slash games in 3 months is overkill for me.

Watching the first 25m of gameplay over on YouTube. Already more than a few instances of cuss words that this video doesn't include from cut scenes.

I see nothing wrong with this I thought it was going to be an F-bomb compilation but in reality, it's pretty vanilla. The 'new Dante' fits this perfectly. Did we expect him to utter pleasantries? "I am Mundus" "You're an @sshole" That was my favourite.

There's nothing wrong with the swearing, he's fighting demons and monsters who are about to murder him and destroy all of mankind. You expect him to be polite and courteous? "Halt demon, let us engage in a bout of fisticuffs!" Rico sucked because he used about 5 swear words every sentence, plus his general attitude stank. We knew sh!t was going down, we didn't need some ass-hole screaming and swearing right into our ears.

There is nothing wrong with profane dialogue when it is believable, and I think it is quite fitting and executed rather well in DmC. People should probably just accept that this is a good game. I'm not going to get it myself because I've never truly cared for the series beyond DMC1, and I am not a fan of the less technical combat that Ninja Theory mustered, though I'm sure many are based on how many GOW fans there are around.

"Halt demon, let us engage in a bout of fisticuffs!" Because the only answer to one extreme is to go to the opposite extreme. I agree that some of this seems fine from the perspective it is in, but some of it was just thrown in to be juvenile and not to emote any feeling of danger or anger. But, someone yelling "What the hell?!?!" tends to emote the same level of anger as someone who yells "What the ****?!?!" It's up to the writer to decide when and what is necessary. I believe much of it used in DmC that I've seen has been unnecessary and done just to draw in the younger age crowd who are used to cursing over XBL or similar. In no way does the cursing add anything to the overall story and it actually creates a poorer and more juvenile image of the protagonist. Edit: I will pick this game up at some point. Just not buying any new games at the moment. I think Bioshock Infinite will be the first one of those this year for me.

Well, anger is really not necessarily what is being conveyed when someone utters WTF A good chunk of the time it is disgust or disdain, or utter confusion, etc. From what I've seen of the game I'd have to say it fits fine. I've seen much, much worse. The voice acting here is also higher tier than most titles with foul-mouthed protagonists going on a rampage swearing in utter monotony. There's a particular cruddy game that comes to mind but for now, I've forgotten the name of it. I believe Mickey Rourke is in it and it is awful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy8bfp5D7pg There. This DMC compilation is far more vanilla than that bull

But Dante's attitude is one of a juvenile who's happy to stick his middle finger up to the world. He's got a bad attitude, he doesn't care what people think and he likes to get a rise out of people. What's the best way for him to anger a demon? Cuss them out. The demons are already pissed off that a "human" is destroying them, Dante knows this and is just rubbing it in by cussing them out. The swearing is just reflecting his, "i don't give a f*ck attitude."

The Dante character is actually possibly what someone may not like, not liking the cursing, well, it is very purposefully in the game as that fits the character, mood and tone. Like if I made a game about trying to make it in the rap-battle world, I'd probably throw in a lot of cursing and it would not be in vain

Rico was an idiot of a character (and part of a cruddy game to boot). He was superfluous DmC is defined by grit and its attitude, and its swearing is appropriate, nowhere near the level of that Rogue game I used as an example. It fits fine. People love hating this game and I think it's absolutely hilarious that in actuality, it's a really good game and put the series back on the mark

Besides that's wrong it does none of what you said. So wait, one game that is defined by grit and attitude is fine, but the other game which is ALSO defined by grit and attitude isn't fine? Gotcha. Gotta love dem double standards.
