Your gaming media blackout

I think there's a thread for this, but the search function is about as reliable as a 360 :/

What games are you going to make sure you have a media blackout from? There are some really good games coming in 2013, so i'm sure you guys will have a few.

After seeing the new single player trailer for God Of War: Ascension, i'm not watching any more footage. I'll spoil too much.

I'm only going to preview a couple of videos of TLU's multiplayer and nothing else. For Bioshock and Revengence i'm not going to watch anything either. For Beyond i'll watch a story trailer and probably nothing else.

Watch everything and spoil everything.

Does this count? I'm no longer gonna listen to any reviewers or game media because they're clearly not reliant and are not out there to protect the consumer.

For Ground Zeroes I'll avoid forums around its release, but I'll certainly still be reading reviews for it right up till launch. Minor spoilers are not really a big deal for me.

Surprisingly enough the only really good Crysis was Crysis Warhead, and most people haven't even played that one. Best character, music and environments.

I'm on a Next Gen Blackout, since a new Console Era is about to start, and i want to be surprised by all the new stuff.

I am staying away from all the rumors, leaks, specs, etc.

That's the sort of game I refuse to go on a blackout for. In fact, I'm all ears for it. Want to make sure it's worth the buy. Sure it's Naughty Dog, but that doesn't mean anything for me. I'm not convinced that I like 'Joel' (aka Nathan Drake) very much at all

I'm talking more about footage and cut-scenes than info (even thought I've seen every piece of footage they've released so far).  I welcome most info to an extent, and so far the info has been quite satisfying. I just hope the AI is as good and dynamic as they claim. About the characters, I think they're great.

The bolded part concerns me too, which is why I intended to watch a good bit of footage. I like Ellie. Nathan Drake, I don't like so much though


I think I would respect TLoU more if they came out and honestly said "Look, we spent months in an isolated room doing the design for a new character, but we were eventually like ****, we're not cut out for this, let's just use Nathan Drake"

I agree... I rather listen to many gamers here on how a game is... yourself included...  I think real gamers that are not getting paid for it are a better source over all...

NO WAY man there are a lot of games that are looking fantastic...


Ni No Kuni, SimCity, The Last of Us, Tomb raider, and well I could do this all day... there is way more in 2013 than just those too games Kon...

I agree... I rather listen to many gamers here on how a game is... yourself included...  I think real gamers that are not getting paid for it are a better source over all...

I half-agree. Most of the time gamers are blinded by hype or rage towards certain titles, extreme personal biases that tend to extend beyond what you'd see in most seasoned reviewers' words. Having said that, I'd say people review things best in late retrospect. For example, Diablo 3. Everyone loved it for the first, I donno, 12 days.

I'll watch whatever I feel like watching basically.

Maxis butchered Sim City. No subways, no way to set taxes individually, you can't save the game, you always need to be online to play it, etc,etc.

haha well to be honest, I don't think they're that alike aside from body structure.  Of course they could've gone much farther from that so the similarites weren't there, but I already think of him as another character thanks to his voice, personality and his overall face (beard, wrinkles, semi grey hair, etc).


He does look a lot like Drake for many people so that could be a bit distracting if they can't disconnect from it. Like you.
