Shinobi (PS2)...Why Isn't There A New One? - Sunday, January 20, 2013 2:08 AM ( #1 )
Just decided to pickup Shinobi (PS2) on the PS Store...gotta say I still love this game. It's challenging and fun, it also could be so much better if SEGA got a new studio to reboot it. For some reason I think Platinum Games should make a new entry in the Shinobi franchise. It could be a sequel to the PS2 one and deal with Hotsuma or just go back to the classic Shinobi games with Joe Musashi. Or just have it be Hotsuma's son like some of the other Shinobi games did with Joe. Anyways, just voicing my opinion that Shinobi is a pretty badass series and if Platinum Games were to take up the role of developing another Shinobi game for SEGA, it'd probably completely revitalize the Shinobi series. Does anyone else agree??

Also, I think SuperBot should add Hotsuma as a DLC character to PS All-Stars...haven't seen many people say this and I gotta say he'd be a completely welcomed addition to add to the game along with Snake, Cloud, Wander, Crash. Him and Raiden would be badass futuristic ninjas and it'd be intense to use them both seeing as Raiden is already my favorite person to use.

it's a Sega after all. They killed Valkyria Chronicles, Shining Force, Shenmue, Bayonetta, Phantasy Star, Sakura Wars... Beside Sonic and Yakuza I have no idea what other games they make these days. And let me say that it is a miracle that the Yakuza series is still alive.

True. But really, Sega is dumb. Shenmue and Phantasy Star were amazing on Dreamcast...they need to pull their heads out of their asses. They have tons of great franchises they could still make good games for. Millions of people would buy Shenmue and Shinobi if they got the right studios to develop for them. Platinum is undoubtedly the studio that should make a new Shinobi game, although it doubt it will happen...who knows though.

Sega have been making bad decisions since the Sega CD/32x and peaked with their ignorance when the Dreamcast come about. I've always had a love/hate affair with Sega [released Binary Domain - Love! | No western release date for Y5 - Hate!]. For every great decision they make they also make a bad one, puzzles me why Ryo Hazuki for example hasn't turned up in games like Yakuza or Virtua Fighter. I could definitely see Platinum Games doing something with Shinobi though.

Yesssss. Ryo Hazuki in Virtua Fighter would make it THAT much better. I've never really played Yakuza before, but it looks pretty cool. I'd just rather stick to games like GTA when it comes to that type of game though. I don't know, SEGA just isn't very good strategically I suppose. I feel like they could be making bank if they just played their cards right and didn't screw themselves multiple times. I would kill for a new Shenmue or Shinobi, seriously. I feel as if SEGA has forgotten about great games like these..they need to stop worrying about how to try and bring Sonic back to life, the last Sonic game I actually enjoyed at all was Sonic Adventure 2. I wish I could make some sort of petition to show interest in a new Shinobi game by Platinum Games. Maybe if SEGA saw it they'd try to make something happen if it got enough signatures...again, doubt it lol

I agree with everything else. HOWEVER, Bayonetta is getting a sequel. You may not be happy that it's a WiiU exclusive, but that's just personal opinion.

As for Phantasy Star. They made Online 2. Which (from playing the jap client) is absolutely amazing.

So no, Sega is still fine in my books.
