I played it a few days ago as my ZOE copy arrived. I actually found it very fun, but yes story and voice-acting seems appalling so far, I'm not going to even bother listening to it, think I might stick on the Japanese voice-acting so I can avoid hearing Quinton Flynn's horrible depressive Raiden. But I really found it very fun, and today a few people told me about a bunch of moves and options I missed, things like how to nail down the parry correctly, kicking enemies into the air, dodging, cancels, and I even saw a playthrough of it by someone on another forum who went onto 2 extra levels of a building which I didn't even know you could do.

Just tried the demo. It was fun, something different for a hack & slash which in this case was fun purely from chopping up trees, poles, and people. Also, DEM HIGH HEELS

I got this demo with ZoE a few months ago and I've run through it a few times. The gameplay is good. It's not as good as Ninja Gaiden Black, but nothing ever is. I like that you cannot persistently block as it adds to the difficulty in a different manner than NG The combo system seems deep, although you have to discover what exactly you can do, which I have mixed feelings about. I guess that's alright, just not used to it after NG's great combo system. Parrying is a blast. Free cutting is an alright thing, becomes better when you start methodically doing it to extract vital parts of a dying enemy rather than just for the hell of it. Now, my problem with the game is the extremely underwhelming characters. The black dude, the girl with the glasses, Boris, all absolutely sh!t characters and it goes to show you what could become of Metal Gear should Kojima step down from the main series. Scary thought. Even Raiden, who I liked in MGS2 a lot, sounds like a turd in this game. It's still Flynn, but they must have instructed him to sound like a completely and utterly monotonous asshead. Now, Ninja Gaiden has proven to me that a great action game doesn't need story, but the characters, enemies especially, need to be very interesting. Time will tell if this game has its own Alma or Doku. Disclaimer: I compare every action game to Ninja Gaiden Black (Xbox) as that as my benchmark for high-action titles. It is the most technically sound, fluid and challenging 3D action game available to play. [Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a butchered version of the same title]
