Sony's rumoured PlayStation 4 reveal event will be live-streamed Sony's PlayStation Meeting on February 20 --where the company is inviting gamers to "see the future" and, presumably, the first glimpse of the PlayStation 4-- will be live-streamed over the Internet, Sony has confirmed to GameSpot.

This article says that a Japanese newspaper leaked the price as 40,000 yen, about $430 U.S. Not bad at all.

***Over*** 40,000 yen. Min $450 for the smallest hard drive...still betting on $499.99 (with a 500GB HDD). High enough for quality hardware, but low enough to stay away from the $600 meme.

Asahi Shimbun, one of Japan’s biggest newspapers, has run an interesting story – translated by The Verge -- indicating that the PlayStation 4 will cost over 40,000 Yen, or about $430.

The Verge puts this into context: PS3 cost approximately 60,000 Yen (nearly $650) in Japan when it launched in late 2006, and as we all know very well, it released at an outrageous $599 in the United States at that time.

Rumor it's from a Japanese newspaper so it must be true. I think it's a good price and i will probably buy one as soon as i am done with all the ps3 and x-box 360 i games i want to play, so in 2 years.

That thread is about the announcement of the ps4 not about the rumors.

Any thread at this time made about the PS4 or 720 is nothing but rumor.

They said that conference is about the future of playstation, not the future of ps3 and i seriously doubt it will be a vita conference. it is a thread about the announcement of the ps4 and even if the date is wrong an announcement will eventually happen making it not a rumor.

PS3 launched in the UK for £425, i think (or it might have been £500+).

I think the sweet spot is $399. Anything more than that will not be received well by consumers or even some hardcore fans.

Yeah, 400 is a pretty good price point to start out. I didn't plan on buy a console right away but depending on the line up, I might cause the initial price won't be so bad. 

E3 should be a laugh when MS or Sony will reveal their pricing. If there's a big difference in price between Sony and MS again, it could be pretty bad for Sony. MS will advertise next gen third party games on their console and highlight the fact you can play them on their console for cheaper. They could easily secure 2-3 million sales like this with COD fanatics waiting for next-gen and MS re-advertising/re-branding XBL. 

I think Django will be around $350 - 375

£350 and around that much in Euros.

£275 plus 20% VAT = £330

Then there may be other costs, i'm not sure what though. Licensing fees? Factoring in profits for stores? Profit margin for Sony? They may aim for £350.
