hey guys, sorry if this is posted in the wrong area. Im not too familiar with the forums. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for a total beginner. Im really interested in learning to work on games. Id really lke to learn programming or coding and the in and outs of a pc. Maybe something to show me the basics so I can kind of see what Id really be getting into before I just jump into school for it. Id prefer something I can find online. But Ill take any suggestions. Thanks.

start with Visual Basic and look for tutorials on Youtube. You can find the express version (aka free) on a compiler called Visual Studio on Microsoft's official site. Visual Basic is the language and like the name implies, it's the most basic there is when it comes to programming and the interface creation is pretty much drag and drop. BTW most of the tutorials will be about making calculators and stuff like that. For games you can start with Yoyo Games engine (google it). With it you will be able to create Megaman or Mario clones and while it is the most user friendly engine around that doesn't mean it's easy. Unless you're a genius all of this will take you like 2-3 years to learn.

Just Google it. Learn free programming online. There are several to get you started and give you an idea what you are instore for. Good luck, and have fun. Learning programming is tonnes of fun once you learn the basics and really get into it.

Python is a great starter language. Tons of resources and tons of stuff you can do with it.
