Most Surprisingly Good/ Underrated Sequels. - Sunday, February 03, 2013 6:48 AM ( #1 )
Inspired by the most disappointing sequels thread, what are your most enjoyed sequels, a one, you expected to be average, but ended up enjoying it immensely, or a one, which lived up to all the hype, and ended up exceeding it in many ways.

Mine are :

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, great, and fun game, sticked to the original formula, while adding new features.

Killzone 2: not a big fan of fps, but really enjoyed this one, great atmosphere, and an even greater villain.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood: Milk and Ubisoft go together, like horse, and carriage, but Rome ended up as one of the best open world areas I have ever played in, story was also great, and the ending was interesting, and intriguing.

Burnout 2 - I played 1 but didn't like it. Burnout 2 was an improvement in every area of the game.

Street Fighter 2 - I never played 1, but the jump from 1 to 2 blew everyone away at the time.

Just Cause 2 - People were definitely surprised with how good 2 was.

Ratchet and Clank: ACIT - i still think people over look this game. It did suffer from series fatigue but it was still a good game.

Resistance 3 - I know some people didn't like it, but after 2 i was surprised at how much i enjoyed the single player. A lot of people didn't play it after 2 which is a shame.

I'm playing Bioshock 2 right now. It's pretty alright for an unnecessary sequel.

Yeah people acted as if Bioshock 2 sucked when it came out. It's actually not bad

Resistance 3 for sure. I feel that it is extremely underrated. It's one of those FPS games that actually appreciate the term "fun." It has very unique gameplay which is hard to find these days in terms of an FPS. Every FPS out there is trying to be the next ModernWarfare. But Resistance is just about having fun. I mean, here's a game where you have a weapon that shoots through walls. Definitely recommend it to anyone who is tired of the same old rehashed FPS games, and want something unique and fun.

KillZone3. I actually thought this was lightyears ahead better than KZ2. The online was smooth and the campaign had outstanding set pieces.

inFAMOUS 2
Here's a game where I feel like I can play it over and over without getting bored. You're given an open world to explore with lightning powers, free to do whatever you want = FUN. Personally, this is one of my top 3 games of this generation. I just didn't hear that much buzz about the game after it came out. I felt it deserved way more credit.

I'm finding it quite boring so far. Though I never played the first one so I don't really know how much better or worse it(2) is compared to it(1).

Fable 3: While it has things that bug me, I am having more fun than playing 2.

KOTOR II:  Yes, it has a cliffhanger ending and Kreia essentially tells you everyone's fate, but I still it to be an exemplary RPG.

To go into more detail:   http://n4g.com/channel/st...serreview/515456

Uncharted 2:  To be perfectly honest, DF is really just a decent game, and even that compliment is solely thanks to the wonderful presentation for 2007.  I thought U2 was a great game throughout.

I didn't like previous iterations of the following at all:
Burnout Paradise
NFS:Most Wanted (old one, ps2)
A really good sequel to mediocre game: Just Cause 2
