New Call of Duty confirmed for 2013

Activision today confirmed a new Call of Duty game will launch in 2013. The news was revealed during a post-earnings financial call, where Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg also revealed the new entry in the franchise is not expected to perform as well as the record-breaking Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

haha, like this needs an announcement and wasnt already known. I will say that the gif you posted is the reason I hated that game. Then I started to play hardcore mode and I got really into it, it was a lot slower pace, people actually walked around and communicated because if you died, you had to wait 5 seconds to respawn, not this immediate gratifications die and run die and run mode. Well.. guess what... they effing ruined that too, and made respawn immediate on hardcore as well, god dammit, ruined the game for me again. argh!!

It should just be called 'Call of Duty: Matchmaking'

And it should load straight to matchmaking, so that no time is wasted between putting in the disc and you camping

Reserve this thread for the game release, then turn it to the official one, OT as long as games keeps selling, we will most likely see more sequels, not exactly rocket science.

OMG Nocturnus that gif had me rolling. XD So true... @Smokey. You're making me think you're part of that crowd that criticizes CoD but still buys it every year.

Nope, bought original COD4, and played it a bunch with people from here, we had a lot of good games. Didnt buy World at War, bought MW2, had it for a week or two, couldnt stand it, and sold it to game stop and got like $35 for it. Didnt get blops, and didnt get MW3. My cousin stopped paying for live cuz he played more and more ps3 and when blops 2 came out, he basically told me to get it cuz he didnt want to drop $60 for the game and $60 for live and wanted to play it. So I played it, coudlnt stand it again cuz of normal mode, but hardcore was different, a lot slower pace (it used to be) and more tactical. I came from CS 1.6, and I miss it a lot and that gave me a taste of what it used to be. But then around christmas, they patched it up, took away the delayed spawn and BAM! stupid chickens running around with their head cut off, totally ruined it for me. It was pretty fun up until then.

I played the original Call of Duty. That was the game's name at the time, "Call of Duty". It was an amazing WWII game for PC, and I don't think I've played any campaign mode for a war shooter since then that was as enthralling.


Then I played Call of Duty 3, which was the first Treyarch title I'd played in that series. Terrible game.


Then I played Modern Warfare. It was good because it was different, and the multiplayer was something entirely new at the time. At the same time, the campaign mode was still competent


MW2: terrible campaign. Terrible multiplayer. Haven't touched the series since, and good riddance to it. To go from COD1 to where they are now is something I'd never have predicted at the time. Great PC WWII game to loathable mindless console shooter

Is this news supposed to be surprising?

I think it's just funny and terrible that they bothered to announce that they were making a new game.

It might have held some value if it had a title, then people could speculate about what it'd be about (ie. Call of Duty: Thailand 2022). Then again who am I kidding, it'll just be Black Ops 3 and have a twelve minute singleplayer. Ideas are hard to think of, and they cost money

MOHAA and Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 were just as awesome.  You should try them if you like WWII games.


Anyway, my experience with COD has been pretty similar to that of Smokey's. I came from extensive CS 1.6 playtime and I also enjoyed COD4 overall. I played online for quite a while and had a lot of fun, eventhough it was a lot more fast paced than what I was used to. Didn't even think about getting WaW, got MW2 and sold it to GameStop in less than a month.  I did "get" Black Ops, and to my surprise, it had a pretty solid single player, but I didn't play online for "legal" reasons.  Passed on MW3 and BO2 and will probably pass on this one.

I think COD4 was a great way to evolve the series, but sadly, it turned to what it is today.

OMG exactly...  I hate this thing the most in COD or ANY FPS


It is a load of shat...


I can remember which cod it was but there was more than a few of us that played it... Max power , Tman Viking other I can't remember sorry...  there was enough o fill the team sometimes...


But in this COD people would hide in this Cabin or big house and asshat would have conditioning and all the perks to make them able to just run around and knife people no guns nothing they would run in right up the stair and knife you... it was pure BS




there is now way this should be in a game... it should only be if you get them from behind what not....


But to NOC two thumps up man this was a perfect gif...

my problem with the knifers wasnt necessarily that I would unload and they wouldnt die, it was the knife guy entering the building in the doorway, I get off two shots then from 15 feet away he basically teleports from across the room to stab me, such BS that was, thats why I got rid of MW2.. the damn knife jerkys with their teleportation, run extra fast, unlimited stamina stuff. Also hate the idea of killstreaks.
