Olympic Runner Charged With Murder

The dark journey from acclaimed Olympian to accused murderer took double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius just five months — and four gunshots.

The South African track star, once a source of global inspiration, was locked inside a South African jail for the vicious Valentine’s Day murder of his gorgeous model girlfriend.

 Gun-loving Pistorius, dubbed the “Blade Runner” for his prosthetic carbon-fiber legs, was alone with blonde Reeva Steenkamp when the gunfire erupted inside his tony home around 3 a.m. Thursday, police said. 

When cops arrived, a bloody Steenkamp, 30, was dead from four bullets to the head and upper body. Pistorius, a six-time Paralympic gold medalist, was questioned for hours and then charged with her slaying.

The suspected murder weapon, a 9-mm. handgun, was recovered inside his upscale residence at the gated Silver Woods community in Pretoria, South Africa.

Well i did not see this one coming this guy was all over the news a couple of months ago. 

Dude, please...just make a "local news" thread...It'd be easier and keep the forums cleaner. Plus, It'd be better for making easy reference to other events.

yeah the olympics are so local, dude there has been 4 threads in the last 10 hours it's not like these forums have an abundance of threads and you barely post so i don't know why you are complaining.

I had no idea who this person was, and assumed this was big news because he had no legs. Leaves a lot to the imagination of how it went down, enough for the media to spin for a day.

Yeah this is pretty shocking. His story is that he thought she was an intruder so he pulled out a gun and opened fire. This is common in SA, a father shot his daughter a few weeks ago thinking the same thing. But Pistorius shooting too many times is why people don't believe it was an accident, as well as him apparently having a short fuse.

What a moron, the guy had everything.  He was the Michael Jordan of South African athletes.  He had it all including a beautiful woman, and instead of just breaking up with her and getting a new girl out of the thousands that would drop their panties at sight of him, he kills her and throws his life away.

Heard about this at work the other day. Terrible. She was stunning

I'm not too sure what to make of this right now. The thing is, she was in the bathroom when it happened, and I just find the entire circumstance to be bizarre. Did he come home to someone in the bathroom and just assume it wasn't his girlfriend? Like, we can't really know that unless he attempts to give a detailed retelling of the events, which as far as I've looked, no such statements yet exist

able to move away from a horrid place. but he still ends up the same as those he had fear so long, worst yet he actually pulled the trigger.
murder is murder regardless of background, a bad past doesn't justify putting 4 rounds into a woman, nothing does.

From I heard, he didn't do it on purpose, but instead mistook her for an intruder, all comments on the article state such incidents happened before due to the complete absence of security, and some stated that having guns laying around home is a regular procedure, and besides his whole family lives in Johannesburg, and hence he lived there as well.
