There is only one advantage, and that is if the company is stupid. Example: Bought my ps3 day 1. I have all the features. People buying it now, have half the features I have (Save for Sony removing my linux capabilities and other stuff).
Yep only real reason... I was disappointed to when they removed that feature as well... or the Chip to give full backwards play or the memory cards...
I have a fat60 and I love that it has those memory card slots... it is so easy to move information back and forth and to to view pictures and and watch movies off it is awesome...
I am surprised they took it out when they don;t cost a whole lot and they are fantastic to have....
That said most first adopters get screwed over... things from poor quality of boxes... after the first redesign of console a system is most time better... in many way...
Smaller, Cooler, Cheaper, Established Library, Kinks worked out from for run, sometime better improvements...
Look at the 360 it started off with a 20GB HDD for the Elite and No HDD for the core package.... it also had no wifi in it and MS wifi adapter was an insane price... I can't remember how much it was but I just hardwired it... that said I hard wire all the consoles I just prefer it... I am not a fan of wifi too much...
Once we had an electrical storm and the power would go off and on like some one flicking a light switch... and more than once it had done something to the router cause it rest it and made it an open connection... it old happened after that type of power outage... but I had to change the router... people using the wifi... that bothers me cause you don;t know what they are downloading... eh...
Well anyways back on topic.. yea.. most times early adopters get screwed.....
