Tomb Raider PS3 has online DRM?

Tomb Raider PS3 has online DRM? Saw this on GAF. https://store.sonyenterta...11_00-TRDIGITALEDITION The details: Purchase or use of this item is subject to the PlayStation®Network Terms of Service and User Agreement and this item's use restrictions. This item has been sublicensed to you by Sony Computer Entertainment America. One-time license fee for downloads to up to 2 console systems that are associated with the purchasing account. No more than one activated PS3 system within a 24 hour period. Content may not be used by any other account. You must sign in to PSN each time you start the game. PSN goes down for maintenance quite often, so if you buy this you could be stuck waiting for a few hours to play it. As it's a DD game i'm sure it's main aim is to prevent game sharing, but it could just become an obstacle to playing the game. If your internet goes out or you take your PS3 somewhere without internet access you can't play the single player From now on check the TOC before downloading games. So is this going to the future of DD on consoles? Because it could easily be seen as a precusor for next-gen.

Makes sense. SONY are pioneers of DRM and this supports the rumours of games requiring an internet connection next gen.
Welcome to next gen:

not sure how many games have this when you buy them digitally. I know GT5:Prolouge and warhawk had it and that was waaaayyy back in 2007. So, not sure how new it is, but it might be getting more and more prominent.

NeverEnding1989 Makes sense. SONY are pioneers of DRM and this supports the rumours of games requiring an internet connection next gen. Microsoft are the real pioneers, ever tried playing any Indi game while offline.

hmmm.. is it the digital download of warhawk? I remember early warhawk being online only for some reason, coulda been wrong on that one. I'm positive GT5 Prolouge had it though, couldnt play it if I wasnt signed into my psn account.

Considering Sony invented SecuROM and rootkits on music CDs, expect the worst when it comes to DRM on their consoles.

This sounds pretty normal to me.. If you digitally purchased the game, you definitely have an internet connection. It's not always-on DRM, but it just validates that your account and the game are actually associated with each other, to prevent you from installing it on different systems like many games were back when PS3 first came out. Steam does the same for that matter. Talking about Steam for that matter, you should be getting this on PC anyway.

Even at "Normal" settings the game looks great. I'm playing with Ultra textures and I can't even imagine going to the console version after putting so many hours into the game looking like this As far as this DRM stuff goes, well, first I've seen of it on PSN - but then again, I don't think I've yet bought a full-price game on PSN as a download EDIT: Well, SE just debunked the DRM. Game doesn't have it
