Need some advice on what to do here. - Saturday, March 09, 2013 10:07 PM ( #1 )
So I went to a Best Buy yesterday and bought a Garth Brooks CD.  While I was checking out at the front, I saw a Best Buy employee walk out of the office that seemed like the manager's office.  So he came up near the cashier and looked at the CD and then looked at me and called me a filthy nig*ger.  I noticed his name tag said something like customer service manager or something.  He was pretty much a manager over there.  He was a Jewish guy too, had the star of David, the hat and all that.  So I'm like what?  And he yelled and said that the CD I bought was of Garth Brooks and a nigg*er like me as no right to buy such CD's.  Naturally people were expecting me to hit him being a black guy and all, but instead I walked out.

What do I do in this case?  Do I get a lawyer?  Or should I have called the cops?  ACLU?

What an ass. At the very least, contact Bestbuy headquarters or something. Make a formal complaint and try to get witnesses. I'm not sure what the law can do at all. But contact local news too? Best thing you can do is make this guy lose his job and hopefully be pubically humiliated. Again...that is unless that law can actually do something here(someone else can tell you that)

Wow! I can't believe that there are people out there like that. Glad that I stay indoors and play videogames with my free time so I don't have to deal with them very often. I would file a complaint with the store and then corporate. At the very least that manager needs to get the boot.

Well thing is, the only witnesses were customers whom I can't get a hold of and 1 cashier which who knows if he'd be willing to say anything.  Is there a specific lawyer for such cases?  Since I'm sure it's not a criminal lawyer I'm supposed to go to.

Edit: This is not the first time either.  Last year I went to Best Buy to buy Final Fantasy XIII-2 since they were having a sale, I ask the employee if they had any copies of it in the back and the guy was like "Dawg, you mean Madden 2012?"  I'm like no... And then he goes to tell me that it's an RPG game and if I had ever played RPG games before.  He goes grabbing sports titles, which he missed grabbing a Soccer game since that's what I would play if I play a sports game.  I mean he himself looked like he was a total weeaboo and went to Anime conventions, I'm sure it's not that weird for a black guy to buy an RPG game either.

I've had a lot of weird stuff like this happen to me at Best Buy, I did complain to a general manager for another incident but he simply said "hmm well that's weird, let me dig into this" while I was left standing there for 20 minutes until I decided to leave.  I usually don't make a big deal out of it but wow, it's getting annoying.

I think that if you have evidence that it happened, then that could either be considered a hate crime or at the very least a civil rights violation. You'd be surprised what/ who they have laws protecting. My dad is in a wheelchair, and many times things happen in stores that just aren't right. Usually we get in touch with the attorney general and the store and they are very helpful and sort things out. So I'd say contact the store, maybe ask the authorities about laws/ regulations protecting you and consider calling the attorney generals office if you can get evidence or a witness.

Hmm, I'll try contacting the attorney generals office I guess.

You could always go back wait for him to get out of work then break his face with your fists. Or not.

I'm sorry, but when someone hops on forums and says this kind of crap:

http://forums.n4g.com/fb.ashx?m=1121395

I don't feel sorry for you one bit when you talk the same way. It's okay for you to post that on forums to others, but then whine when someone says it to you.

As ''friendly'' as you are trying to make this seem, it's not ''culturally'' okay with me, I find it offensive reading or even hearing someone using any word that demeans any of us online or off.

For me to say that it doesn't make me feel bad one bit is my way of saying, you get what you give. Whether it be ''nigga's'' or ''n*ggers'', I personally see no difference, either being derogatory, again whether it be online or of. But that was the way I was brought up. I find either offensive, because it demeans us, no matter how light hearted one tries to make it sound, no matter what our skin color is.

not sure if i believe this story, but if it did happen only thing would happen is he'd get fired for representing the company in a poor light. freedom of speech won't do anything to him personally.

side note, where do you live? who buys cds anymore... and what the hell were you doing buying garth brooks?!?

That never happened. Goodbye.
But it did. However, I had my browser open and did not respond right away to the poster, I responded to it some what later not knowing it had been deleted for whatever reason. And then my post edited for whatever reason with no regard for what I was trying to respond to, by a staff member it seems. Not sure if this is agreeable to some, but I'd prefer someone trying to explain this to me.

The poster I was responding to wasn't that harsh in anyway for it to be deleted, though, me quoting the person doesn't justify an edit in my post based upon his post, as it wasn't in anyway harmful to me or anyone else reading it.
