I hope all are getting their Irish on... and have a happy St Patrick's Day...  We went out and ad fun Yesterday....  Hope you all have fun today at a some point

N4G Adventure Part 1 - screw it

I hate this day to be honest. Barely anyone actually celebrates the day, it's just another chance to get pissed except on this day from 10AM. Then again that's what it's like here now. Was listening to a discussion on the radio about it the other day and most people said they were going to go knacker drinking (i.e. drinking can walking around the city or in parks, etc.). Guards are supposed to take it off them but they do it anyway. At least there's no Bank Holiday because of it so the pissheads still have to go into work tomorrow.

Not that I'm nationalistic and think everyone should be celebrating "hooray we're Irish yay for us!" (quite far from it), but every event turns into a reason to drink here.


Glad you're at least having fun Fatman (and anyone else that enjoys the day not just for drinking).

Just off the top of my head is it about that old folklore tale of the guy playing a flute leading snakes out of a town or whatever, yeah leave it to the drunks to whip that one up between break patterns of consciousness.

Yeah we don;t drink.. we still have fun with it... I have some wine at Easter and christmas but that is about it...


I agree with you... I don;t like all the drinking that is surrounded by it....  that said... I like to celebrated...  Since my Nanny on my fathers side had a lot of Irish in her...


That being said it is said how they are almost hijacking holidays and turning them into other things... and not of traditional stuff...

I know some of the schools out west in the USA have changed easter Holidays into some other even...  or when people say things like Happy Holidays...

Crap like that bothers me...

I, however, am Irish and spent Saturday doing the 13th annual Pub Crawl in Charlotte, NC with a large group of my close friends and 17,000 other people from all over. Although this, for the most part, was just a giant **** show for everyone else to get plastered, I celebrated the fact that I am Irish, was with friends, and enjoyed lots of good Irish food and drink. I didn't overdo it, but had a great time while remembering what the day was all about. Erin go bragh!

Don't have alot of that IrishPride in me, just went to a house party and then local nightclub/ Am shocked I have no hangover. Dublin City sucks at nighttime on Paddys day. So many ****heads, would love to go to NY for it though

We had a huge party at our house and I bought a keg of green miller lite.  Most people brought their own beer and didn't drink it so now I have an almost full keg of green beer that I'll be drinking for the next 6 months.  I'm going to look like a damn lizard by then.

I celebrate St. Patty's every year. Non-stop since I've been born lol

@B Man - Bring that keg to Durham and I'll help you to have it gone in a weekend :p haha
