This relates to the Smears of War article back in the day, they use tricks to trick the eye by using smears.

But this is a new engine and should have new techniques. Shiny Floor, shiny metal on flying contraption, shiny shiny shiny.

Because, they would rather have something to point at and say that is where your $500 worth of computer components are going than saying your paying extra for nothing.

It's also a kind of way to show off and say "we can do it for real this time".

I don't know if I prefer "shiny shiny shiny" or "explosion explosion explosion", but none of it is as realistic as they want you to believe.

Nope, still just smear smear and smear lol

Cryengine 3.5 seems to have the best textures.

*facepalm*

They may not be ray-tracing an entire scene but neither is cry engine.

The only thing they are doing is proving that their game engine is just as effective as a built from the ground up game engine. Just look compare with other trailers. Reflective city buildings, waterfalls for no logical reason, particle physics based explosion; check, check, check.

I was just talking about the textures..
Besides I'm looking forward more to Frostbite 3 with their destructions. It's time already to have a realistic environmental destructions, anything less is last-gen.

Awww Yissss, next gen is slowly getting closer and closer.

In the mean time:

Kotaku asked Mark Rein (Epic co-founder) if the WiiU would be getting UE4..

I figured I'd ask straight-out, so during the Q&A with Rein, I did. "Will UE4 run on the Wii U?"

"Hahaha no." Rein said, with expert comedic timing. The room erupted with laughter. As the laughs died down, Rein continued: "I mean, sorry, it's not really a correct answer. We're not… we have Unreal Engine 3 for the Wii U. Right? And Unreal Engine 3 is powering all kinds of amazing games, still lots of games are being made with Unreal Engine 3. We announced today about a new Unreal Engine 3 license. Unreal Engine 3 doesn't disappear because of Unreal Engine 4. But our goal for Unreal Engine 4 console-wise is next-gen consoles.

I don't mean to derail the thread, but the WiiU is getting left in the dust.

No UE4, no Frostbite 3, no mention of the Fox Engine.
