EA Making Star Wars Games - Monday, May 06, 2013 3:42 PM ( #1 )

According to EA Labels president Frank Gibeau, three studios are already working on Star Wars games: Battlefield developer DICE, Dead Space developer Visceral and Mass Effect developer BioWare. “Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe,” Gibeau said. “Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”

Bioware could work on Kotor 3, Dice could work on Battlefront 3, and visceral could always take Star Wars 1313 over.

Smart suggestions.Watch as EA and Disney ignore all of them.

Visceral...is this the studio responsible for the very uninspired Dead Space 3 and laughably generic Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel? How exciting.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I should feel about this, if it means Battlefront 3 isn't dead, and it turns out what it was supposed to be, I'll be happy.

I lol'd.  I think two of those have a legitimate shot of becoming a reality.  At the very least, I see that First Assault game happening.

I'd rather see the games die then suffer, becoming dead inside hating themselves with every reminder of what they used to be and what they could have been. Remember, put down the horse, don't make it suffer.

Plus what is Disney thinking? Look at what happened with The Old Republic.

I was just including them as to what the post said they were all working on Star Was games.  First Assault was in Beta I think, and the newest BF3 was still in Alpha I think, and all of the game modes sounded like they were broken, except for multiplayer.

This is exactly how i feel about Nintendo.

On-Topic: Now that Medal of Honor franchise is dead,...I wouldn't be surprised to see EA bringing in a 'Star Wars Sci-Fi FPS' into the rotation with Battlefield.

This could be wishful thinking, but;
EA is partnered with Crytek
Crytek includes Crytek UK
Crytek UK is basically Free Radical
Free Radical was originally developing Battlefront 3 before it was canned. Could they get a chance to finish their work?!
