Please Help build a PC for $500-600 - Tuesday, May 14, 2013 4:51 PM ( #1 )
Guys my PC just went bad both motherboard and hard drive are bad and its about a 4 years old desktop

My budget is kind of tight and I have $500-600 to spend any suggestions or builds or sites you guys can suggest on buying a new PC?

I am not much of a tech guy so any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

What kind of uses do you have in mind for this PC? If you have grandiose designs, it would be better to save up and lay down $800-1200 for a rock solid PC than to half-ass and not get half the usage you want out of it.

I am a console only gamer,  I don't think I am looking for a kickass gaming PC

I want a system that I can use daily bases to sur web?social media and just watch bunch of videos and share photos and stuff

If it could run some games I am sure I may play here and there but mostly for me ts gonna be ps4
-------

My current HP desktop was 32BIT,8gb ram DDR2-1TB hard drive
Media card readers
It had a cheap nvidia graphics card

I bought this PC on blackfriday in 2010

And I a lot of time it was slowing down when I was watching some video or movie

So I want something that could last good 2-3 years decent.  Doesn't have to be gaming PC

Get a cheap laptop. You shouldn't even be looking to build a PC if all you're gonna do is surf the web with it.

you could just put a decent graphics card in there like a 7770 for ~$100.

It should work but what is the wattage on your power supply? (you will have to open the case and look to see this)
And what is your CPU?

If you have a decent CPU, you could probably get away with just upgrading the graphics card and power supply for less than $200.

Comes with a GTX520 graphics card I think and passes minimum reqs for most games. Heres a game compatibilty list.

If you're near a Microcenter, here's a good start. http://www.microcenter.co...processor-bundles.aspx

I would also just go for a laptop for those sorts of uses. Maybe you could do it on the cheap and just stick a new low end motherboard, cpu, hard drive and ram in the old case.

How do you know those components are faulty?

You don't need to spend that much money if you're just trying to surf the web.

$300 max.

I just bought my lil bro a $300 Dell so he can do the same thing you want to pay $500 for.

Get a laptop.

A $40 graphics card that, according to your list, cannot play many of those games at even the minimum? Does that even qualify as a "gaming PC"? And why's the PC so expensive?

EDIT: Also, that card is not a GTX.

Prebuilt PCs always cost $4000 more than they should. I would only buy that rig if someone paid me a couple thousand and also gave it to me.
