PS4 Network connection speed test. Max speeds on your ps4 system/ per second. - Sunday, November 17, 2013 5:59 AM ( #1 )
I have not found any info on the internet regarding ps4 download speeds whether through wifi or cable connected. The ps3 was maxed to around 20mb/s. What speeds are you getting this time?

Its not the hardware that is the limiting factor, its your own internet speed or the speed of the server (based on how busy it is, how many connections it can handle at once, etc)

The PSN download servers suck. Set up a proxy on your PC and monitor your download speeds. I get 5MB/s on PC through steam and up to 7MB/s through Origin but on PSN I am lucky to get 1MB/s.

If you are using WiFi that could be causing the huge speed gap. WiFi sucks.

a 100mb/s connection doesnt go 100mbps, your connection speed is in megabits, not bytes. so you are only going to get 12.5 megabytes per second TOPS

Im not entirely certain of that though. Hes maxing out his internet connection on the PSN servers and by the sounds of it, hes looking to see if they go faster

I think you are the one who is confused. mb/s is the same thing as mbps. He used it correctly every time. mb = megabit, MB = megabyte. He said he gets 100 megabits on PC and 17 megabits on PS3.

divide 100 by 8. thats how you convert mbit to mbyte. Im not confused. ISPs advertise in mbit.

What ethernet cable types can I buy that support 1000 mbps speeds? I think I just need some numbers and letters, lol.

Good, now read back to my second reply

@Mindty Normal CAT-5e works, but some prefer CAT6

On pc the speeds vary from 700-100 megabits per second, on ps3 it maxed at around 20 megabits ps, not megabytes. Wifi however it wouldnt go past 13 megabits. I spoke to my gf who has just recieved a ps4, she told me her ps4 showed 40 Mbps through wifi. So i assume there is a big difference between ps3/ps4 speeds.

Yeh PS3 was limited by wifi adapter, hardwired PS3 would easy give full 100Mb thru it's Gigabit connection.

which does not matter if the PSN servers are really slow.
