Sherlock - Tuesday, January 07, 2014 12:41 PM ( #1 )
Any of you catch the first two episodes of the new series? I thought last week's was the best Sherlock yet, but then Sunday's...Best ever.

The napkin scene alone killed me, "That just happened".

I haven't caught up yet, waiting for it to be online. Didn't think I would like it but the roommate is into it and she dragged me in now I think it's a really solid show.

I just watched every episode in the last 3 days.

The wedding is my second favorite episode after the series 2 finale. I thought it was excellent the way they made the cases part of his speech, and then tied those cases into the bigger picture at the end.

Yeah last series finale was excellent, and I thought the season opener was clever.

This week was like the Sherlock version of a rom-com. They've done such an excellent job of making Mary likable, she's like the audience stand-in.

But I knew she was pregnant as soon as she didn't like the wine. I've had the moment too often myself lol. "WHAT?!?! I thought I liked this food?!?!"
End spoilers***

Wow, thanks for the reminder.

I can't believe I forgot to watch the season premiere. This weekend's job is going to be to catch up on these two episodes.

My expectations are really high after reading your impressions.

I should probably watch the new episodes.  I knew they were out this month, so watched seasons 1 and 2 again over the weekend.

What do you watch, Smokey, NCIS? :P

If you're in the U.S. and don't feel like borrowing from the internet, I think they air in <3 weeks.

Sherlock is brilliant, I loved the Wedding. His speech, oh man his speech.

Spoiler

I was really disappointed in the first couple of minutes until I realized it was a fan ranting his theory of how Sherlock faked his death rather than how Sherlock actually did it.

End spoiler

Emmy, Smokey.  Emmy.  Tony Awards are for stage performances.

Not really a fan of how every now and then the writers pretend that Sherlock has no understanding of human emotions/behaviour in a vain attempt of creating depth to the character.

I'm also not a fan of how everyone is a critic.

It always seems a bit up in the air whether they'll do another series, but I think the writers are really hitting their stride. I selfishly hope that Cumberbatch and Freeman don't let silly things like Peter Jackson movies get in the way.

At least The Hobbit is completed as far as filming.  And, with Abrams working on Star Trek, don't think Cumberbatch has as much much on his plate (it's been overloaded for so freaking long).

And, with Moffat having series 4 and 5 already plotted out...

I think things are looking good.

Anyone watch the Series 3 finale yet? Ending was crazy and raises quite a few questions...

The ending of the series 3 finale got me pretty excited about series 4. It's a bit odd though, people in this show END OF EPISODE SPOILERS < kind of have a thing for escaping death, huh? It's kind of making me wonder if there isn't some weird sciency explanation behind it, especially seeing as how Sherlock was hesitant to tell Anderson how he survived, and no Moriarty is back from blowing his own brain out. I hope they don't go down the sci fi route and explain it away with clones or some bs (I doubt they will, but you never know.)

Miss me?

Great series. Can't wait for more!

Matty - I don't think they'll go science fiction. I think it's always about the science, tricking the mind, how we fill in the blanks or use flawed logic, those sorts of things. I also think that Sherlock's version, the one that his big fan thought was imperfect, was the real solution. Well, it's the only one we're getting. ;)

Clearly the second fan version in the episode was the true version, where he and Moriarty were giggling on the roof in love. It explains everything, obviously.
