Amazing architectural achievements - Thursday, September 25, 2008 12:24 AM
This thread will be used to discuss some of the greatest structures ever cafted by human hands. All time eras apply as do geographical locations. Feel free to post pics of some buildings, structures, or even art pieces that you feel are great technical achievements.

One that I feel was a great accomplishment for the time period it was crafted is the Roman Colosseum.

The Colloseum was built in Rome, Italy, about 1900 years ago. It is considered an architectural and engineering wonder, and remains as a standing proof of both the grandeur and the cruelty of the Roman world.

After the splendor of imperial times, the Colosseum was abandoned, and in turn it became a fortress for the medieval clans of the city and a source of building materials.

Well I hate to bring up a touchy subject but I think the twin towers are amazing... I just wish that I could of seen them close up with my own eyes... Matter of fact I do wish to one day go to NY and check out the tall buildings and the statue of liberty even though I normally hate sight seeing... But yeah NY in general looks awesome...
I have 20 Bloodmask stars! yay for me

Life is like a gamble im the ace in the deck!

The Great Pyramid of Giza, Karnak and The Valley of the King. The Egyptians had masterful architectural skill, matching the best of what we can make, yet thousands of years before we even knew how to build proper housing.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Great Wall of China.

Taj Mahal, Twin Towers, Terra Cotta Army, Coliseum and a bunch more.
Solidus Snake: Jack, it's not power I want. What I want to take back from the Patriots are things like... freedom, civil rights, opportunities. The founding principles of this country. Everything that's about to be wiped out by their digital censorship.

That's quite impressive. We tried to copy 'em once, to keep the Scottish out, but it didn't work too well... Then again, does this look like it could keep anyone out to you?
