Most people I know and on most of the forums i visit there is a general dislike for anime. Why do you hate anime or why do you think other people hate anime?

I think you can apply that to every form of art in media.... Video games, television shows, movies, and books.

Because most people take anime for its ultra-nerdy-pervy-weird stereotype and never bother seeing just how great and thought provoking it can be for themselves.

Bar a small minority of anime shows like Samurai Pizza Cats, they're all not as good as cartoons from the West.

In all seriousness though, it's because a lot of it just does suck to the same degree most "genres" suck. Not to say I dislike anime, but I could probably count the series/movies I like on one hand. To me, they're just cartoons, I don't know why people hold them on some higher plane of existence over their western animated counterparts.

Every anime isn't dragon ball z. There aren't tons of gravity defying hair like that in anime anymore.  The only popular anime i can think of from my head with hair like that is naruto.

When you say cartoons from the west what type of cartoon are you implying? Name one. I can think of a couple. Scooby doo, powerpuff girls, dexter...

Eh I grew into anime back when Dragon ball and Dragon Ball Z were around. The only current animes I watch, as you can see are Naruto: Shippuuden, and a little bit of One Piece and Bleach. Even though, I can't find One Piece on Tv anymore >.<
