On topic: I approve of this direction. 

Not possible IMO.

Uncharted is 90% shooter with 10% puzzles and platforming.  Tomb Raider is 90% puzzles and platforming with 10% shooting.  Hopefully a rivalry can improve both games because Tomb Raider's abysmal shooting is almost as bad as Uncharted's platforming where Drake randomly jumps 3 feet or 30 feet and the fact that the game throws out all the answers to the puzzles.  If you flash a button prompt on the screen, of course I'm going to hit it, I've been trained to do so.

I doubt there will be a similar franchise this gen that will top Uncharted, but this game could be great.   Last Tomb Raiders have been nothing amazing, but pretty enjoyable.

I'll just have to wait.

I'll agree that it looks promising as a great reboot of the franchise and I don't think it'll top Uncharted. and you say Tomb Raider will be more gritty like that's a good thing. Uncharted is meant to be somewhat light-hearted. Drake is always cracking jokes in the most dire of times, that's something that makes Uncharted what it is. Tomb Raider may be great, it may be incredible, but Uncharted has a very unique and diverse character set that I doubt any game will top any time soon.

I never understood when people said one game will kill another. So you think Tomb Raider will be so good that nobody will buy Uncharted 3 and Naughty Dog will cancel it? Pffft. Yea, that's really gonna happen. I haven't looked at any screenshots or trailers for the new Tomb Raider. I have 0 interest in that series. Oh and the new Lara has a man face. Nothing can kill Uncharted.

They have watered down Tomb Raiders respectability with numerous crappy titles.
Uncharted is rising and TR is falling in popularity, game quality, press etc...
TR is not relevent any more for reasons stated above.
Uncharted has better stories with characters that you want to like. TR has nothing to compete with Naughty Dog's story or character. People don't just want some big breasted chick with mediocre everything else.
Even if TR does well, it will mean nothing to Uncharted - they are unrelated(beside playstyle)
