This isn't any sort of "Official" announcement but lately the pending section has been hammered with stories awaiting approval. It seems the more stories pile up the less get approved as it seems to be a monumental task at that point. I think a good rule of thumb is if you submit X stories approve X stories.

If you are a contributor, please help and do some approving in pending. It will be greatly appreciated, and will help keep the news on N4G the freshest and most up to date of any website. Thanks.

I've seen interesting non-flamebait stories in the bottom with no approvals and I haven't approved them...  I'm guitly too

Or when you submit you should start from the last page and work your way forward. This will help clear it faster as a lot of people will often never look beyond the first page.

A perfect example is mine which is still in pending, someone reported it as old when it's not and now no one will go on the story and approve it.

Well in fairness Jack it is from the 6th of this month, Which is not old but not really new either. Usually stories more than a few days old will get sacked by fellow contributors. Plus that is an older game (Released April 08') and the "Old Review" debate has been discussed many, many times....

Thanks For the help Swede and anyone else who came into help. Please make it a point to approve at least a few stories everyday if you are a contributor. It will help tremendously. Thanks.

I really hardly approve articles because now adays most of the stuff that is on there is a little conflicting with what is actual news and what is not. I remember a time when blogs were not allowed and neither were forum posts but obviously compromises have been made. I don't contribute that much anyway but i'll try to improve

For some reason most people don't understand this and will report anything that says Blog in the link. Even though it is a legit source.

A good way to search for dupes using the N4G Story search is to only use one "Key" word. Like if you think a screenshot story or a trailer is a dupe search using one word from the game title. Like if it was a trailer from Tomb Raider: Underworld....Just type in Underworld and look through the last 5-10 stories and make sure it is not a dupe.

hope that helps a little. It takes a little time but it will help a great deal. Some people just approve everything and that is almost worse than quality approving a few stories. lol

Seriously though, I don't like blogs. I don't report them but I usually just stay away from them.

This is not some random blog everybody posts on but many contributors fail to understand the difference between some idiot fanboy with a blog and a valid game journalist with a blog...It drives me nutz. I personally think the contributor test is FAR to easy...

I thought it was going to be easy out there with lots of reviews but there are a bunch of trailers and screens. Those take time

I'm a gamer, I have tons of lives.

LOL, we all are....Just some people do it ALL the time. 

But if I see Cat or Diselage approve I usually piggy back it, lol

Edit - On a positive note it is down from 156 pending stories to 80...But 80 is still a ton.

kinda hard becoming a contributor when bloodmask is a freakin machine, I checked like 80 articles...all were already summited by him.

last night in the pending section was loaded and went through a good amount of them, but msot stll needed more approvals to go through
