News10GameGuys What do I (as a contributer) do if people mistakenly mark one of my stories as a duplicate or old when it's legitamatly neither? http://www.n4g.com/NewsPending-435255.aspx Thanks. You're going to have to explain how that one isn't a dupe. ;) Exact same text info, video makes it a nice alternate source...

http://www.n4g.com/NewsPending-434922.aspx I was under the impression from past conversations on this forum that a story that highlighted one small segment of a much larger interview was okay? Users are sort of inconsistent on this point when it comes time to approve.

Users are sort of inconsistent on this point when it comes time to approve. It's the exception, not the rule - a few guidelines, or criteria, to keep in mind are that it should highlight information not easily found in the other piece (financial report, interview, etc), it should receive member approval, and it should generate member interest.

My story , which is actually an article I wrote 100% legit, failed miserably. Can you help with it?

This story is not dupe: http://www.n4g.com/NewsPendingCom-436199.aspx?CT=1&Page=1&Page2=1#C3069587 It does a comparison with previous year sales numbers - the others only show this year's sales numbers. I believe the comparison is interesting and would be something N4G users would be interested in. More importantly, it's not duplicate. And look: http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News-436223.aspx This one got through but exactly (almost copy and paste) of the article above, which was failed. This one is a dupe of the PSUni one - the PSUni one should take its place.

Story Failed Approval After Getting Approved - Help, Please!
-
Friday, December 04, 2009 6:10 AM
Hi, I post articles for TerminalGamer.com, and I posted this article 19 hours ago yesterday: http://n4g.com/industrynews/News-437589.aspx It was approved within the hour, but, about 3 or 4 hours later it was reported by one user for being a duplicate article. When I looked at the duplicate article that the user pointed to, I noted that it was submitted around the same time as my article but that it had only received 1/10 approvals and still was not live on the site. I didn't worry about it since my article was live, but when I woke up this morning, I discovered that my article had been pulled from being live. It had been live for 19 hours but suddenly I was told it had "failed approval" because it was a duplicate. However, I'm under the impression that often, when a news story breaks, numerous sources might post articles around the same time, and that since my article was the first one on the topic to be approved, that it should still be live on the site. I noticed that the other article, the "duplicate" of mine, had also failed approval so now it occurs to me that there is no live article on the site about the subject and I was wondering if you could tell me why, after being approved and being live on the site for hours, my article was then failed because of the presence of another article that never got approval and went live in the first place, and if it's possible to make my article live again. Thanks so much for any help you can give me in understanding this! terminalgamer

http://n4g.com/NewsPending-439045.aspx Don't know why my submission failed when it was within guidelines: "Also internet forums and message boards do not normally qualify as a reliable source. However linking to screenshots and videos posted on forums is ok. You can also link to forum posts if the post is made by a developer or other industry professionals."

Hi, received a failed approval on the following submission for no reason. http://n4g.com/NewsPending-442029.aspx All information is accurate, no editing errors, and nothing regarding duplicates. It was on the front page and reached 300 degrees before it was attacked with unjust reports. I don't find it fair, seeing as how there are other submissions which pretty much say the same thing, and my submission was up first, yet mine gets attacked for no reason. That really is not right. Hoping someone will fix this.

A submission didn't fail but I got 2 reports for copying and pasting a description from a website but not removing "I" and "We," but I didn't copy/paste from my source, I just wrote that blurb for N4G. I said "I guess" within it but that wasn't the website talking -- it was N4G contributor talking, heh. ^^;

There's to be no first person in the summary.
