Personally I don't think it needed the Call of Duty in the Title.. Modern Warfare 2 was a pretty cool title all by it's self.

Now I know the dam marketing people told Activision that if they didn't have Call of Duty in the title a lot of people would not know it's a Call of Duty game.?

Now who these people are seems pretty crazy to me, because everyone I know on the planet knows they are making a Part 2 and that it's called Modern Warfare 2...

But that's not the problem - The problem I have with this whole thing is they couldn't even put the dam thing on the box correctly...

It looks really stupid off to the side like that, like someone through it on at the last minute... Sloppy. ..IMO

Not having "Call of Duty" in the title would have been a dumb marketing decision.  The Call of Duty name has been around a long time and has built up a well-known brand image.  Of course hardcore gamers know what Modern Warfare is, but they make up at most 25% of people who will buy that game.  Some parents may know they get their kid a Call of Duty game every year for Christmas, but what if there is no game with this name?  That's a lost sale right there.

Image removing the Halo brand name and only calling a game "ODST" instead of "Halo 3: ODST."  That would sell only a tiny fraction of what it will sell with the Halo brand name.

It's all about branding.

Actually that's a very good point, the hardcore gamer probably is only 25 to 35% while the rest are noobs trying the game for the first time, or buying it for someone... didn't really think about parents buying the games as gifts.. that's a good point...

I think it looks fine with call of duty on the left like that, it balances out the 2 on the far right.  At least that's what I think.  If they centered the CoD part then they should also center the two.

Actually NO! that is the actual games box art... it came from fourzerotwo (if you click on his name next to the pic it will take you to his twitter page -he is on twitter and he is an actual developer on the game... -So in his own words and I quote he said, "Just received the first Modern Warfare 2 boxes straight off the press. It's kind of like how they tag Final Fantasy on the Crystal Chronicle series.  It's not needed but you can't fault them for sticking to a name brand that they know will sell it...

I am happy that they left the name in there...CoD is a huge name and it is because of them that made it huge... why should they have to loose that....if anything it whould be treyarch that should change off the COD name....

You have to feel for IW they made Medal of Honour Series than than went and made COD after EA took over the MoH series...

now they have other riding there coat tails... not kool...

Personally I don't think it should be in it. Let Cod be WW2 and make modern warfare their seperate series set in.... Modern times. Oh well, I just hope thy aren't finished with the WW2 era.

Well personally, I don't think it really matters TO US. I tend to refer to MW and W@W as CoD with my friends, so I'm sort of glad it's still there.

What the ****? Are they taking the piss or something? Fully functioning nightvision goggles? That's an awesome extra, but who wants to remortgage their house to buy them? Given how expensive those goggles alone are, we're probably looking at at least $200.

You are right.  Hardened Edition is $80.  The Prestige Edition price has not been revealed, but Big Download is smartly guessing it'll be more than $100.

I'm expecting at least $200, possibly closer to $300. Nightvision goggles are infamously expensive, so unless those are cheap knock-offs the supply of Prestige Edition bundles is not only going to be very small but also very premium.
