no, the next playstation will not be the equivalent of a good gaming pc now. It would be probably similar clock speed to what it is now, 2 gb ram, 512mb graphics, probably similar to the 5770's , and 250gig HDD, they always try to keep it as minimalistic as possible to keep the console price down. That said though it would easily be twice as powerful as the ps3, a 512mb current dx11 gpu>>>>>> than the 256mb gpu's of old, and not just for memory size reasons, newer shader model support, more efficient, less power, higher clocks, etc etc etc, even new cpu's with new SSE instruction sets are much more efficient, for example, a single core cpu today with identical features but with an updated instruction set, would be much more efficient, so even if on paper it doesn't look like much of an improvement, it likely will be

I think the PS4 will have a pretty large HDD (1TB possibly?) and Sony will focus more on digital distribution. HOPEFULLY, they will still have a disc drive, and will be able to achieve a smaller form factor from the start. I don't see too much of a change from the current PS3 specs, but we could all be surprised (which would be surprising).

Next gen i want to see games on playstation excel whether they are multi plats or exclusives. We know internal sony studios have the upper hand but I want the ps4 to have enough raw horse power to display beautiful high resoloution textures along and detail environments , physics, animations etc. I dont have an the greatest idea really but im assuming 2012-2013 for th next playstation 4 console+ the gpus like dchalfont mentioned probably could be totally optimized low wattage small processing die size chip which could crank out amazing details along with a more powerful cell processor hopefully costing less to manufacur. I think the clock speeds to be roughly the same on the cell but with more spus or cells pieced together to handle amazing amount more of the game processing like the examples from killzone 2 and uncharted 2 special fxs, physics and all the other fancy stuff that im not good enough to explain which would seriosly aid the gpu currently an example we see today. But ofcourse im guessing but im pretty sure next gen Ps4 and Xbox consoles will look pretty damn good this gen has been pretty nice and next gen should be that extra leap IMO. On another note but not to sure how sony will handle the blu ray drive capacity/speed but if they sony dont go to crazy with some new blu ray drive that has some type of expensive storage media meaning a blu ray player thats more advanced with larger capicity blu ray disc. Maybe the launch console and price point will be much lower than the ps3. Im sure sony has learned that to be successful the cost must be resonable otherwise the ps4 might get another bad reception @ $599.99. I dont see that happening since sony stripped the scale of the ps3 to be more competitive this gen. By Sony learning from this gens cycle I see a 1 sku introductary console hopefully @ $399.00 or less. Time will tell my friend.

The PS4 will have the Flux Capacitor built in.

Well i would like it to be about 5 times as powerful as the current ps3 with a much improved blu ray player and about 320gb hard drive at lauch If it is as powerful as 5 ps3s put together, 4 ps3s equivilent of power can be used for games and the other 1 ps3 worth of power will be used for the OS and things like high quality video capture (with youtube support), 1080p screen shots, in game music/chat and more which will be on all games as they will be part of the OS. I know this sounds noobish but i dont know about the technical info of the PS3

Look for the PS4 not to have a GPU by Nvidia or Ati... They will use multiple Cells in the system and one will be for GPU

My best guess would be that it'll use 2-3 Cells... more if they don't have a dedicated video card though I think that would be pure folly. They'll keep the speed and yeild demands... this will allow them to keep fabricating the same chip only having multipul Cells in the PS4. They will likely use USB 3.0 to connect everything unless SATA can catch up to it when they make the final decisions. For RAM anything less than 4 gigs would be stupid and I think 8 gigs should be easily feasible by this time. They'll do away with the stupid seperation of RAM and use unified DDR5. If they do have a dedicated video card it'll probably be Nvidia to keep BC.
