So my 360 rrod'd(the old 20gb) on me for the second time almost a week ago. My ps3 ylod'd(old 60gb)  on me for the first time 2 days ago.

My 360 is a month out of warranty (hope they give it to me free) and its been 2 years with my bc 60gb. Should I pay for the repair(if u ever got ylod, how long did they take to fix it), get a new one, or just go back to pc gaming.

I'd go out and buy a slim (and replace my xbox), personally.  Guess it depends where the games you want to play are coming out.  You've had both consoles and a gaming rig.  You should know what you like.

Yeah, that sucks man.  If mine ever kicks the bucket I think I'll take it to a local repair shop.  If you live in a big city you should look into that, dude.  There's one here in Toronto that fixes PS3s for $90 and you're guaranteed to get your same console back. 

I've no idea how reliable their repaired consoles are, but for $90 the risk seems pretty minimal.

well that sucks man, either you had a nasty run of luck or you did somethin to get some bad karma! Looking ahead, i would go with getting a new ps3. FOR ME, the games that are coming out in the next year to two years exclusively on the ps3 are worth it. And i wouldn't fix your old one because i have heard even the fixes don't last too long, and the slim's are quiet, cool, and sexy.

Well I did the YLOD fix and it's working great so far....  If you don't want to go through the hassle of dismantling the PS3 and following a few steps then get a slim.
 
If you want to get a PC get it, but I wouldn't be without a console this generation with all the exclusive games so far and the PS3 seems to be the one to get right now.

if it was the ylod I would just open that sucker up and slap on some new thermal paste. I used to do minor repairs on my ps2 so going into the ps3 will be an adventure

 

Get another 360 for 100 dollars at walmart using that giftcard deal.

go pc gaming the 4870x2 is a bit cheaper then it used to be im getting back into pc gaming myself.

yes you'll get the same model you have just tell them that you want the same gb back . just like the one YOU PAID for .

You can guarantee you get your 60gb back. I removed my 1TB harddrive,made notes with customer service that original hd was lost. Then noted it in the coffin checklist sheet. 7 days later it was back to me in perfect shape ,scratches and all. Oh and i technically paid 38 dollars to fix it as my 3 year Squaretrade warranty(38$) at launch hadn't expired,so they paid the 150$ The slim is crap, the 60gb is the best of the best. If you pay to fix it you can ebay it for 250$ EASY if your nervous about it. My 60gb became my living room media server/bluray player,and i bought a 80gb non-bc with a 4 year warranty for beating on.

I cracked mine open once.  It's pretty tight quarters in there and you pretty much have to break it down into about 12 pieces if you hope to get at anything important.

now to get my uncharted 2 disc out of the original...(i've heard its actually pretty simple)

haha this story is exactly the same as me in every way apart from the one detail that it was gta 4 stuck in the original not UC2. lol.

do you know how you go about getting the disc out?
