Status: offline 		well what would you like to have in firmware 2.40. i would like everything that has been comfirmed. trophey support for most games, a score system (like xbox gamerscore) that add all your points from your tropheys for example 10points for bronze 20silver 30gold,i also want more wireless printer support, i just got new wireless printer/scanner and it isnt compatible with ps3
im looking forward to the time in the xmb, lol, ive been waiting for that since ps3 come out.

Status: offline 		Mail client for sending pics, messages, etc. without using the browser. Mostly to integrate the functionality into the picture section and apps like EyeCreate or any other games. I want to send things directly from those.

More transparent support of album artwork over DNLA would be nice... I mean, I have Medialink on my mac and it shows artwork fine, but on the PC there seems to be problems implementing it. I'm not sure why it's so easy for Nullsoft and so hard for everyone else... but any help from Sony would rock.

And... this one is sorta silly and a matter of personal preference, but I hate going into my media server, clicking a vid and finding out that I'm accidentally in the music or picture section. I'd rather have one tab for non-game media with all three types available. I guess it probably has more to do with having to launch different backends... but it'd seem like they could, at least, link music and video...

*edit* copy and paste is a definite want. I was frustrated by that the other day.

ahh, one can only hope....

realistically, i'd love the ability to rip your PS1 games to the hard drive

I mean come on, it can't possibly hurt Sony's revenue at this point

Status: online 		This is what I wrote over in the G.A.P.. I don't know if I would expect all this in 2.40 but someday. Well here it is.

"Well theres a lot of things.


I wish they would improve the internet browser and have the latest flash player installed. The browser as it is gets froze and runs out of memory. Six windows and it runs out of memory with just 2 or 3 being used. So they could improve that.


I also wish audio would come out of HDMI and the RCA (or optical if used instead) connector because I have my surround hooked up with RCA and video with HDMI. I know its possible because before the most recent firmware it use to play sound through both about 1 out every 12 times I would turn on my PS3.


I hope they give us more visualizations for the music player because I chill and listen to music on my PS3 all the time.


I think music (albums) and videos should continue to the next album or video when they are done playing.


Skype like on PSP.


Internet music player like on PSP.


More fonts to choose from in Theme.


A wallpaper playlist. So I could choose more than one image for the background and they would change randomly. Also the option to choose when backgrounds change... hour, day, and month. Also maybe flash backgrounds or .GIF support.


They could perhaps do something sort of like widget.


RSS feeds.


The option to appear offline to friends.


An extra line or two for your comment.


Player profiles. Something like Myspace.


Cross game chat (which won't be in 2.40).


Voice messaging (because its faster than typing). You know...leave a message.



Theres some stuff I want. Thats just off the top of my head. I can think of more but I'll leave it at this for now."



What do you guys think about my ideas?


Theres a lot more stuff than this but this is just what I thought of.

Those three are definitely like to see.

Like you said, I'm not necessarily aiming for 2.4, but sometime soon would be nice.

I wish Netflix would work with Sony on a player. If I could stream movies from netflix it'd up my opinion of the ps3 as a mediahub. I don't even care if it was in SD, but 720p would be fab.

Yeah Netflix would be nice. Especially in HD. Netflix has looked into going to PS3. They've had surveys about it.

If it doesn't happen it may be that Netflix would get in the way of what Sony is planning on doing. The benefit of Netflix is that so many already subscribe and they would be given this new option without having to lay down MORE money. If Sony can get all the content that they need (which I'm sure they can because they're Sony) and offer a good Subscription deal, than Netflix would just be competition. I don't know what they're planning but we should have an idea by the end of E3. There will be a video service. I hope there will be streams and downloads available. Pricing is my main concern. Pricing can make or break Sony's plans.

Status: offline 		Yeah... honestly, I doubt Sony could ever come close to pulling me away from Netflix. They just have too much old, obscure, foreign and indie stuff that I'm sure Sony would overlook. So if the choice ever comes down to a subscription to a Sony media service and netflix, I doubt I'll be switching.

Status: online 		Yeah I know what you mean. Maybe there will be both, from Sony you buy movies and TV shows as downloads and Netflix would be the renting option. I hope they go that way because like you said Netflix will offer a lot of movies that Sony would never think to offer.
